According to various experts, it is wise to not to use any kind of baby soap until a certain amount of time. We all know, many of the available baby soaps are made of harmful chemicals that can damage the delicate skin of the newborn. However, if it is about using a 100% Ayurveda based soap, then I do not think there should be any problem? I recently purchased Patanjali Shishu Care Body Cleanser (baby soap). There are both pros and cons of using this soap that I would like to share with you through this review.
Things that I liked in the Patanjali Shishu Care Body Cleanser
Packing
As always, the packing of Patanjali Shishu Care Products impresses me very much. From its simple, but elegant looking packing, you will get every piece of information that you may need to know before buying this product.

Although soap is nicely packed in a carton, yet different packing is used for the soap itself. On this carton packing, at the front, you will be able to see Patanjali logo and next to that is Shishu Care’s logo.

At the bottom, you see will see graphical representations of almond and a stamp claiming this product as a dermatologist tested product. Right below that, you will see the company’s claim of using almond oil, coconut oil, and olive oil as ingredients.

At the back of the packing, on one side, you will see information regarding Patanjali Shishu Care Body Cleanser’s expiry dates and price.

On the right side, you will information about the ingredients used in this soap. Right below that, you will be able to learn more about the base material, usage, and direction of using this soap.
Like carton, the inner packing is also very impressive.

The soap is nicely wrapped in a plastic wrapper with Patanjali branding on it.
Overall, I am really impressed with its packing.
Size of Soap
I have seen many baby soaps with sharp edges.

However, Patanjali Shishu Care Body Cleansers is not one of them. I really liked the size and shape of this soap.

Most of the baby soaps are either completely rectangular or brick shaped. They look gigantic.

This soap, not only looks beautiful but size wise is also perfect.

This soap neither looks big and even in real, it is not as big as other available options.

You can hold it very easily and it barely slips from your hand, while using. The ‘Shishu care’ branding on the soap looks awesome.

“Shishu Care” is perfectly engraved on it. With branding, soap looks very nice.
Full of Beneficial and Natural Elements
According to Patanjali, this Patanjali’s Shishu Care Body Cleanser is made with beneficial and natural elements and is completely free from any harmful chemicals.

In this soap, things like olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, turmeric, neem, and mint have been used. Hope you know, these elements can improve your baby’s skin a lot and are highly beneficial.

Things like Olive oil, Shea Butter, Glycerin, Vitamin-E, and Sugandhit Dravya have been used as the base of soap.
If you don’t know, then I must tell you that Shea Butter comes with a lot of health, skin, and hair benefits. Shea Butter is used in almost every beauty product manufactured nowadays.
As per the company, the herbal composition may result in a change of color, but it barely affects their effectiveness. So, in case, you see any discoloration in the product, you are not supposed to be worried. This is a natural process and as said, it is not going to affect product’s effectiveness.
Soap Texture is Very Soft
Patanjali’s Shishu Care Body Cleanser is very soft. Hence, you don’t feel any kind of roughness or dryness while using this soap.

Where other baby bathing soaps can seriously damage baby’s skin because of harmful chemicals used in them, you won’t face any such trouble with this one.

The soap lathers well, and you don’t need to use it much. Hence, the consumption of this soap is moderate. It barely affects your monthly budget.

Price
The market is full baby soap options. However, price wise, I am very much happy with Patanjali Shishu Care Body Cleanser.
You can have one piece, weighing around 75g for 45 INR. Whereas, in the case of other available options of the same quantity, you won’t get anything lesser than 60 INR.
Things I disliked in Patanjali Shishu Care Body Cleanser
The Fragrance is Very Strong
I personally feel that the fragrance of this soap is little high. And, if it is high for me, then it is definitely high for a newborn.
As we have discussed earlier that strong smells are not good for the newborn, as they cause discomfort to the babies. Hence, a few of the parents are going to experience this discomfort (of their babies), while bathing their baby. Just because of this strong fragrance, I gave up this soap right after using it for once.
Soap is Not Tear Free
Patanjali Shishu Care Body Cleanser is not a tear-free soap. In other words, it is going to harm the baby’s eye, if by mistakes it enters in there. Now, we all know, while bathing, babies move a lot and there are chances that soap or lather may enter in their eyes.
Hence, if you are not using a tear-free soap, then it can be troublesome. I experienced this trouble for once, and this became the second reason for me for not using this soap in future.

Borax Purified Used
Borax is used in almost every soap, but the irregular use of this chemical means side effects. That’s why I will prefer using a borax-less do more to use borax-less soap.
How To Use it on Face
- While washing baby’s face, please do not use it directly on the face.
- To wash his face, first, you need to wipe his face with wet hands.
- Then, apply some soap on your hand and use the lather to clean your baby’s soap.
- This is not a no-tears soap, hence, it can cause discomfort if enters in mouth or ear. Therefore, it is highly recommended not to use it around eyes and face area.
- While using, do keep in mind that you are not supposed to rub your baby’s skin harshly. You must not put any pressure because excessive pressure can damage baby’s fragile skin.
Do You Have Any Question? Speak To Our Expert
Overall, my experience with Patanjali’s Shishu Care Body Cleanser is not as good, as with other Patanjali Products. Although it is full of natural elements, yet there are a few things present in this soap that can damage the skin of the child. When it about nourishing baby’s delicate skin, I guess it is easy to compromise on the price, but not on quality.
For the betterment of baby’s skin, I won’t refrain myself from buying an expensive soap if it is good for my baby’s skin.
