In our series of pant style diaper review, so far we had reviewed MammyPoko, Pampers and Patanajali Shishu Care diapers. With the review of Huggies Wonder Pants, we would like to add one more diaper to the series. After a close analysis, I would like to share all the pros and cons of this diaper.

Packing

The packing of this diaper is very attractive. Despite being my fourth review on pant-style diapers, I have no problem is saying that I have not seen such a wonderful packing before. The manufacturer seems very passionate about colors.

Not only the outer packing but diapers have been made very colorful from the inner sides, as well.

I ordered (Amazon) a pack of 42 pants because I found it relatively cheaper than the market price. When I first received the pack, I was surprised at how they managed to stack 42 diapers in such a small and easy to carry packing.

To be honest, to an extent, I was worried about the condition of diapers.

But, surprisingly, when I opened the packing, I found that not even a single piece was damaged. All 42 diapers were in perfect condition. Just above the packing, you will see a polythene strip. Using this strip, you can carry this pack (of 42 diapers) very easily.

In addition to branding on the front side of the packing, you will find information like the number of diapers in the pack, the available sizes of the diaper, the accurate size according to the baby’s weight, the absorption capacity of up to 12 hours and the highly flexible elastic band of diapers.

Branding

As I mentioned earlier, I really liked the branding of the Huggies Wonder Pants Diapers.

Be it the outer packing or inner side of the diaper, branding has been taken very seriously.

You can see branding at the back side of the diaper, as well.

Just to differentiate the front part of the diaper from the back, besides putting a “back” label, the company used its logo. So, it is a wonderful way of using the branding.

Design

Like branding, I really liked the design of Huggies Wonder Pants. Diapers are very light in weight and are very beautiful to look at.

For your information, Huggies Wonder Pants diapers are available in 6 different designs.

But, in one packing, you will find only 2 types of designs. In my packing, I found 42 diapers of two different colors and cartoon characters. On each diaper, you will see a very beautiful cartoon character.

They purposely altered the cartoon character (you will see one character on 21 diapers and a completely different character on the remaining diapers).The cartoon character featured on both diapers is different.

To differentiate the front part of the diaper from the back one, you will see a change of color in the elastic band. On 21 diapers, this elastic band is of orange color and for the remaining 21, this is blue in color. However, the back-side of the diaper is kept the same.

Ease of wear

Like other pants-style diapers, Huggies Wonder Pants are very easy to wear. From the packing, you can find complete information about wearing and changing this diaper.

For your ease, I would like to tell you that this diaper is as easy to wear as a pant. And, you can take it off, as a pant. However, in case, diaper becomes very messy, it will be better if you tear it from the sides. This will not only lock the waste inside but will also protect our clothes from getting spoiled.

Keep in mind, never flush the diaper in the toilet. Instead, wrap it well in a paper and put it in the trash only.

Great fitting due to the flexible elastic band

One of the things that I really liked about the Huggies Wonder Pants Diaper is that the elastic band and the awesome fitting it gets because of it.

Before using this diaper, I had used three other pants style diapers. However, I had to face a lot of trouble with their sizes.

Whatever size I chose according to the weight of my baby, either prove to be very big or way too smaller than the required.

But, with Huggies, I faced no such trouble. Due to its flexible elastic waistband, the diaper is able to provide the desired size. In simpler terms, it offers a best-fit.

Available in different sizes

The Huggies Wonder Pants diaper is available in five different sizes such as small, medium, large, XL and XXL. Whatever size you choose, you will see it shaded with a red color background.

If you want more discounts, I suggest you check out the deals on the internet before buying because that is the best place where you can avail good discounts.

I must tell you that you can save a lot (per diaper) of money if you opt for a bigger package. The only problem is, large packs are not easily available in the local markets.

Most consumers buy small packs, which is why shopkeepers usually don’t keep big packs and the one they have, they sell it at an increased price.

Absorption Capacity

I am not very much impressed with the absorption capacity of Huggies Wonder Pants. In fact, I am a little disappointed.

As usual, I conducted a saline water test. To have this test, I asked a friend to help me.

Right after pouring water on the diaper, I noticed, in terms of absorption, diaper failed. Even after minutes of pouring water, I can still notice a few drops of water and wetness, as well. However, this was not the case, with other diapers I tested earlier.

You can see the wetness on the hands of my friend. I captured this picture after a few minutes of pouring water. Therefore, I have strong reasons to believe that this is surely going to upset the baby and his skin.

Due to its wetness, even after minutes, it is very hard to rule out the possibilities of diaper rashes. In other words, you may see a few skin issues.

For absorption, almost every diaper manufacturer use cotton and magic gel in an appropriate proportion. Where the magic gel absorbs wetness, the cotton can help keep the upper part of the inner surface (of the diaper) dry for a long time.

In case of Huggies Wonder Pants, I noticed, they have not used cotton in the right ratio. All you will see is an absorbent magic gel.

Perhaps, this could be one among the other reasons behind its’ poor absorption capacity.

Becomes heavy once wet

Compared to my regular diaper, this diaper becomes very heavy and bent downwards once wet. Due to heaviness, baby it causes discomfort to the baby. This heaviness also increases the chances of diaper leaks, as well.

I have had a personal experience of this. I used this diaper for once, and I had to change it every two hours because I was really concerned about the diaper leak.

Consumption

As mentioned above, the Huggies Wonder Pants diaper becomes heavy once wet. So, you are left with no other option than changing after every two hours. Now, you can imagine, if you are made to change this diaper after every two hours, just imagine, how many diapers you will be using in a day and for how long you can use this pack of 42 diapers?

In short, this is going to affect your monthly budget up to a great extent.

No protection from the elastic bandage around the leg area

In addition to the Huggies Wonder Pants Diaper, I have reviewed three more (MammyPoko, Pampers, Patanajali Shishu Care diapers) pants-style diapers . But, apart from the pampers baby dry pants diapers, I did not find the same paper protection layers around the leg area of the diaper in any of the above-mentioned diapers including Huggies Wonder Pants.

As I said earlier that this diaper bents downward once wet, hence, the elastic band is supposed to get tighter. Now, as there is no paper layer protection that can reduce the inner pressure of that tightness around baby inner-leg area, the child has to deal with a huge amount of discomfort.

For your information, I would like to tell you that this layer not only works like a lock around legs but offers an extra comfort from the tightness of the elastic band.

No information about the material used

The diapers that I previously reviewed, I noticed, there all were stressing enough on two things – no diaper rashes and no use of hazardous chemicals. It was clearly mentioned on the packing. In addition, there was a clear mention of the ingredients used.

But, in the case of the Huggies Wonder Pants, no such information was given on the packing. Apart from this, no information has been provided about the items used in this diaper. This is actually not good.

Cost

Per piece price of this diaper is way too higher than other available options. Should you do a rough mathematics (Rs 699 MRP/42 diapers), you will find that you are made to pay more; 16 INR/per piece.

Now, I don’t need to tell you, how this is going to affect your monthly budget.
