When it comes to security and safety while traveling in a car, parents take every possible step to make sure that their infant is safe. But, even then, where there are very strict rules about the Baby Car seats in other countries, it is very sad to say that there is no such rule in India. Even today, many parents prefer to hold their baby in the lap, while traveling by car. Perhaps they don’t know that by doing so, they are risking the safety of their child. However, after learning about the benefits and safety aspects of a baby car seat, I recently bought “R for Rabbit’s Jack N Jill Convertible Baby Car Seat” for my daughter. Today I would like to review the same.

Things I liked In “R for Rabbit Baby Car Seat”

Packing

Let’s start by packing it. Its packing was very simple. The original packing of the product was safely packed by Amazon in their own packaging.

After opening the Amazon pack, I finally saw the original packing of the product. The product was nicely packed in a white cardboard made a box with all necessary information printed on it.

On one side of the box, there was detailed information about the car seat model “Jack in Jill“.

On the other hand, warnings regarding the use of the product were printed.

Never use a baby car seat on a passenger seat equipped with an airbag.

Right after you open the pack, the first thing you get to see is a pamphlet showing the other products manufactured by the company and a guarantee card.

In addition, you will see, your baby seat, safely wrapped in a polythene bag.

With R for Rabbit Baby Car Seat, you will also get an instructional manual telling you about how to install the car seat, how to use positioning and important information about its care and maintenance.

First Impression

After unpacking it, our (me and my daughter’s) first reaction was, “It is very beautiful.” This model is available in three different colors variants such as black gray, black cream and colorful. All three colors are awesome, however, I opted for “colorful.”

Believe me, my daughter was so pleased that the moment I placed it in the car, she got into play. I opted for “colorful” model because, like me, my daughter also loves the color.

I really liked the way branding is done on this car seat.

The company logo and R for Rabbit, which was nicely engraved on the car seat, looks very attractive.

Security Harness points

According to safety, baby car seats are given a few points out of 5. The one that seems safer, earn more points. In simple words, the higher the number (maximum 5), the better it is. Accordingly, R for Rabbit Baby Car Seat has been given 5 out of 5 points for safety. Therefore, on the basis of security, I have no reason to reject this car seat.

Suitable for children 0 to 18 kg

Use in different positions

You can use R for Rabbit Baby Car Seat in different positions.

For the children of 0 to 2 years, the best suitable position is rearward facing. In simpler terms, the car seat will be placed in reverse position.

For the children of 2 to 5, the best suitable position is forward facing i.e. looking towards the front.

Choosing the right position is very important for the security of a baby.

Removable comfort pad and car seat cover

If it gets messy, you can also wash the comfort pad and car seat cover.

Do keep in mind that it is only to be washed with cold water in the machine and according to the product manufacturer, the temperature of the water should be 30 degrees.

This feature (washable) enhances the life of R for Rabbit baby car seats and for a long time, you get a clean seat. Please do not bleach or iron the comfort pad and car seat cover.

Unlike other car seats, R for Rabbit Baby Car Seat comes with a Buckle Pad.

Due to this pad, the baby is not only safe from any incident of falling or sliding out, but also from any discomfort caused because of the tightness of harness straps. This pad is very soft and I really love it.

Chest pads for R for Rabbit Baby Car Seat

Chest pads were the next thing that I liked.

In terms of security, when you tighten the harness strap, these chest pads protect your baby from any incidents of discomfort.

This car seat is also available in two other color variants and they look awesome.

Things I disliked In “R for Rabbit Baby Car Seat”

Instruction manual

The instructional manual is available only in the English language. I did not like this because the guidelines are not easy to understand in English. According to my opinion, the company should also have the guidelines printed in the local language.

Not good for infants

Although the manufacturer claims that this product is suitable for children between 0 and 2 years. But I believe that you must not buy this product until your baby’s neck stabilizes. Until your baby learns to hold his neck tight, buying this seat is a waste of money. Instead, buy an infant baby car seat (but the use of infant car seat lasts for a few months until your baby learns to hold his neck).

Doubts about the quality of the colors used on the Comfort Pad

Although the comfort pad used in the colorful model is very colorful, I have doubts about the quality and longevity of the colors, used on it. It has been said that the colors of this car seat fade faster than the other two color variants of this product.

It has also been written in the institutional manual that if your vehicles are parked in the direct sunlight for longer hours, then fading color is natural.

Tightening the harness

Pull the shoulder straps upwards so that the harness is loose, then after the baby is placed, then drag the adjuster strip under the seat until the shoulder straps are tight.

Just tighten the harness strap as required for the protection of the child. Do keep in mind that tightening the strap more than the required, is going to cause inconvenience to the baby and leaving the harness strap loose can be dangerous.

Use the harness adjuster below the car seat cover properly. Do not forget to tighten it whenever your child is placed.

Slackening the harness

As I mentioned above, adjusters used to loosen the shoulders (under the cover of the car seat, on the front) are used.

To do this, press the harness adjuster with one hand and grab the shoulder straps from your other hand and pull it towards you. Loosen as much as you need, and do not forget to tighten it after the baby is placed.

R for Rabbit Baby Car Seat comes with three recline positions.

You can choose the appropriate position according to your child’s comfort and safety. If you look back at the back of the car seat, you will see six slots.

These slots are used to adjust the car seat according to the weight of the baby.

If your baby falls between 0 – 6 kg, then the harness strap passes through the bottom slots.

Similarly, if the infant is between 6-13 kg, then the middle slots are to be used. In the end, if the infant is in the range of 13 to 18 kg, then the top slots are to be used.

To do this first you have to take out all the straps and to do that, repeat the steps below –

Press the liver of the harness adjuster (under the car seat cover) and loosen the harness adjuster strap.

Remove the connecting shaft that connects the base and backrest together.

Ensure the diagonal belt reaches the proper slots to the harness connector.

Backrest position

To do this, you have to pull out the red color handle that is placed right under your seat.

You need to pull out the handle, and according to requirements, you are supposed to position (look out digits 1,2 and 3) your seat.

If your child is between 0 – 2 years then you have to keep the seat at position number 3. But if your child is between 2 – 5 years, then the position number 1 or 2 are the best.

Rearward facing

Rearward facing is suitable for children falling into 0-13 kg category.

As learned above, we have to position our baby seat at the number 3 position.
Insert the seat belt from the back of the car seat (in from position B1 and out from B2) using the given slot.

Similarly, fit the seat belt on the positions given below the car seat. After installing, check the seat belt for any tangle or twist.

After this, place the child in the car seat. Adjust the shoulder straps according to the right position and tighten the chest pad with the help of harness adjuster. After doing this, check the seat belt for any twist or tangle and ensure the comfort of the child.

Forward facing

Forward facing is the best position for children falling in 9 – 18 kg group. To use in this situation, set the car seat (with adjuster help) to the number 1 or 2 position.

First, place the child’s car seat on the vehicle seat and make sure there is no gap between the baby car seat and the vehicle’s seat backrest.

After this, insert the car seat belt from the hook above the baby car seat, turn it around the car seat and insert it into the car belt buckle. After doing this, make sure that the seat belt is free from all twists and tangles.

After this, to place the baby in the car seat, repeat the procedure again. Adjust the shoulder straps according to the right position and tighten the chest pad with the help of harness adjuster. After doing this, check that the strap for any twist or tangle and ensure the comfort of the child.
