Any harmful chemicals used in the product can cause severe damage to their skin. Keeping this in mind, we recently purchased Chicco Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash And Shampoo. Today we will be conducting a review on this product.

We bought 500ml packing of Chicco Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash And Shampoo.

The built quality of packing is very good and strong. At the front, you can see Chicco’s branding.

On the top, there is Chicco’s Logo. And, right below that, you will see 0+m. If you don’t know, then this simply means, “the product is suitable for 0+month i.e. newborn babies.

At the front, you will see the company’s claim of having a Parabens Free and clinically tested product. We will talk about the ingredients at a later stage.

From the back of the bottle, you can learn about the ingredients used, the right procedure of applying it, price, and expiry date.

Overall, you will get every information that you might be needing before buying this product.

Ingredients Used

The Chicco Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash And Shampoo is made of several ingredients. There are things that are good for the skin. Let us talk about these.

COCODIETHANOLAMIDE is a sticky liquid, which is used as a foaming agent in shampoos and soaps. And, this causes no harm to the skin.

The product contains COCOAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE, which is actually a fatty acid derived from coconut oil.

Disodium EDTA is a chelating agent that helps in reducing the scum when washing head/hair.

LACTIC ACID is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). It is derived from foods, hence safe for the newborn skin.

DISODIUM COCOAMPHODIACETATE is also a foaming agent and is used to make foam. It is obtained from fatty acids found in coconut oil.

DECYL GLUCOSIDE is a gentle surface cleansing agent. In comparison to sulfates, this is a much better cleansing agent and causes no harm to the skin.

ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN is a clear liquid preservative, which is usually obtained from vegetable glycerin, coconut or palm oil. It has three main functions to perform – to prevent the product from spoiling, to keep the product separate, and to soften the skin.

GLYCERYL OLEATE is used in the product, which helps to protect skin from problems like wrinkles and itching by moisturizing the skin. It is considered safe by the Food and Drug Administration (US) and can be used in cosmetics.

COCO-GLUCOSIDE is used in the form of foaming, cleansing, and conditioning agent in shampoo. It is derived from plants like olive, palm, and corn. Therefore, it is also considered completely safe.

In Latin, AVENA SATIVA STRAW EXTRACT means “wild oats”. It is used to improve hair texture and glow. It has also been considered safe for use.

SODIUM HYDROXIDE is often used in bathing soaps, cleaning products such as detergents, shampoos and shaving creams. It is used to (in small amounts) establish the pH of a product. Sodium hydroxide is also known as caustic soda. According to the Food and Drug Administration (US), this is completely safe until used within the prescribed limits.

POLYQUATERNIUM-7 is used as a modifier in shampoo, hair conditioner, hair spray, and soap, etc. Polyquaternium-7 helps them to maintain their style by interrupting the ability to absorb moisture in hair. Polyquaternium-7 is considered to be a less risky component.

BHT and BHA are chemicals related to each other, which are commonly used as preservatives. These two chemicals have been considered safe for use.

Acrylates / C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer is a synthetic component used to enhance the texture of skincare and haircare products. It has also been considered safe for use.

The 500ml Bottle Comes with A Pump

The 500 ml bottle of Chicco Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash And Shampoo comes with a pump to have the shampoo.

This pump is sturdy enough and you do not have to put any extra effort to have this shampoo out of the bottle.

To turn this pump off, you have to turn it to the left. And, to make it work, you have to turn it to the right.

This pump not only reduces the spillage issues but make its use a lot easier.

Parabens, SLS / SLES, Dies and Alcohol-Free

Chicco Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash And Shampoo is kept free of all harmful chemicals. In the picture below you can see that on its packing it is clearly mentioned that Parabens have not been used in it and is clinically tested.

Similarly, at the back of the bottle, it has been shown that it is completely free from SLS / SLES, dyes and alcohol.

It does not use any kind of artificial colors, which is a very good thing. Such chemicals and preservatives only cause damage to the baby’s skin.

Texture

Chicco Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash And Shampoo’s texture is completely transparent.

No color has been used to make it look beautiful. Most companies do this when making children’s products.

But, Chicco Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash and Shampoo is free from all such things.

Presence of Propylene Glycol

Do you know that the main function of propylene glycol is to open the skin pores and let other chemicals in? If this chemical is used in the child’s product, then you should avoid buying it.

Whenever you buy a baby product, in addition to propylene glycol, make sure that product is also free from chemicals like polypropylene glycol (PPG) and polyethylene glycol (PEG). If anyone or both of these chemicals appear under the ingredients’ list, then skip buying it.

The presence of propylene glycol in Chicco Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash And Shampoo is a matter of concern. Therefore, we do not recommend buying this product.

Presence of Fragrance

There is a use of fragrance in Chicco Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash And Shampoo. You probably do not know that companies use these fancy fragrances to hide the bad odor of the chemicals used in the product.

The second reality is that no company is obliged to tell, which chemicals they have used for fragrance. However, for your information, we would like to tell you that it is usually made from coal and petroleum-derived synthetic chemicals. According to experts, there is evidence that after exposure to any type of (intense) fragrance of the child, they can get asthma.

Chicco Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash And Shampoo have used a fragrance. Therefore, we do not recommend buying this product.

The Odor is Very Sharp

Chicco Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash And Shampoo have a very sharp odor. This is also because the manufacturer used artificial fragrance in it.

For your information, sharp odors cause discomforts to the babies, especially infants. Hence, another no to this product.

Non-Transparent Packing

Packing of Chicco Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash and Shampoo is not transparent.

Because of this, it is very difficult for you to know how much shampoo is left and when is the right time to order a new one.

No Sealed Packing

Packing of Chicco Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash And Shampoo comes without any security seal. Neither there is any seal on the pump, nor on the bottle’s lid.

As you see in the picture, the lid can be opened completely and adulteration is very easy.

The correct method for applying Chicco Baby Moments Gentle Body Wash And Shampoo is given on the back of the bottle.

It is often seen that parents put shampoo on their hands and then, they put it directly on the head of the child. For your information, please be advised that this is a wrong way and it causes damage to the baby’s hair.

To apply this, first, take a small amount of shampoo on your hand. Dilute it with a little amount of water. Then put it on your child’s hair.

Keep in mind, while applying you are not supposed to put any uneven pressure on the baby’s head. You must massage with very light hands. Do not forget that the baby’s head and other body parts are very delicate and even slight uneven pressure can cause permanent damage.
