One of the inconveniences that cause discomfort among women is the itching in the nipple area. Here are few causes behind this problem.
1Eczema
One of the problems that may cause itching in the breasts, especially in the nipple area, is actually the condition known as eczema. This occurs in the skin and causes it to dry, redden and appear itchy. In some cases, the condition can lead to scarring, but also to bleeding. Good to know is that it can affect all age groups.

Also, in many cases, people suffering from eczema are also positively detected in testing for gold staphylococcus, which makes the disease more difficult to treat. The good news is that the symptoms of the disease can improve if the skin is properly hydrated, but also if the lotions and shower gels that dry it are dropped. The doctor often recommends emollient creams and those containing topical steroids.
2Sports
The itching sensation in the nipple area also occurs frequently in people practicing sports such as runners. More specifically, during physical activity, the nipples are often touched by clothing, which results in irritation, pain, redness, and drying of the skin.
Specialists recommend the application of antiseptic creams, but also the avoidance of hygiene products that favor the drying of the skin. It is also possible to prevent injury and if a special (surgical) band is applied, but also if barrier creams, such as those containing gelatin or zinc oxide, are used.
3Paget’s Disease
Another cause that may cause itching in the nipples is Paget’s disease, a rarer type of breast cancer. The disease affects 2 out of 100 women who are diagnosed with breast cancer and is manifested by a red rash that occurs at the nipple but also at the surrounding aroel combined with burning or itching sensation. Paget’s disease can be confused with eczema, and this happens because the symptoms of the two are similar.

4Chemical Reaction
Chemical substances added to cleaning products that come in direct contact with your skin can trigger a contact dermatitis (triggered by an irritant). Because your breasts are soapy in the shower every day and are almost always covered by a fabric that has been washed with laundry detergent, no wonder the breasts are more prone to itching.
Many patients will have a rash or red skin if they are exposed to an irritating soap or to a laundry detergent used in large quantities, draw attention to dermatology.
5Pregnancy
When a woman gets pregnant, hormonal changes and weight gain make the breasts and nipples bigger. It sounds weird, but the fact that the skin spreads in those areas can result in a more pronounced itch.
In order not to scratch you, dermatologists suggest you apply a hypoallergenic lotion to the skin on your chest after showering.
