My 1-year-old baby boy penis got swollen may be due to injury. Please suggest.
There could be multiple reasons for this situation (swollen penis of a toddler) –
- Penile adhesion, which is very common after circumcisions.
- This could be a yeast infection.
- The cases of zipper injuries cannot be denied, as well.
- Foreskin problems because of wet or dirty diapers, wipes, or residue from soap.
- Balanitis is a severe inflammation can happen around the tip of the foreskin and is often caused by poor hygiene.
- If there is a cut or sore on the foreskin, bacteria can easily invade.
- Incidents like paraphimosis, where when a male baby gets older, his foreskin loosens and retracts (pull back). Now, sometimes, due to the diaper or inner clothing, it may be let unretracted, hence, injuries.
As a treatment, you may need antibiotics, antiseptics, or in a severe case, some prescribed medications.
Therefore, we suggest you to please see a doctor at the earliest possible.
