Story-telling is a great way to hone the imaginative and creative skills of your little one. In order to foster his imagination, one way to make story-telling fun is by letting him complete the story that you started.

For instance, start the story by saying, ‘Once there was a little boy/girl named ____ and he went to the zoo with his parents. At the zoo he saw… Now let him try to make descriptive sentences and recall the names of the animals found at a zoo.

Some of you may think of this idea as simply absurd. But let me tell you this, this is ABSOLUTE fun for both kids and the parents (it helps us bring out the child in us as well!). So all you have to do is get a butcher paper or poster paper and hang it on the wall securely. Bring out the colors and let the creative tots get to their game!

If you have done any research on how important these activities are then you should know that such an activity helps bring out the creativity and imaginative aspects of your child. Not only that, it is also a cognitive and physical activity as it involves the use of arms.

You must have already started singing 1 to 10 to your child by now. And when it comes to these numbering games, it is never too late to start. So all you would need is a white board and sticking numbers.

Because we are only talking about a 3-year-old baby, the easiest game for beginners would be this – Stack blue and red colored (or any color but has to be two) numbers together. Now if your baby can differentiate blue and red, simply say ‘2 in red’ and let him stick it on the board. Then alternatively you can say ‘4 in blue’ etc.

A game like this has double the benefits – It not only lets him sort out the numbers but also makes his color recall game strong! And not to forget it makes for a great hand-eye co-ordination.

You must have already bought legos or building blocks for your baby by now. One thing that you must know have known is that building structures not only stimulates creativity but also promotes great hand-to-eye coordination. Just ensure that when you involve your child in building structures activity, there is someone playing alongside too. This will teach him to work in group or with other mates at the same time.

When your child is learning all these things, remember to always keep a check on good manners. Although a lot of the manners are learnt by the child by observing the surroundings around him, yet it is never wrong to imbibe them yourself as well.
